Urethritis Treatment in Ayurveda

In males, the urethra is also involved in transmitting the semen. Yet, unprotected sex may also result in urethritis. If an infected partner does sex without any protection, he or she can pass it to another. Both males and females can be equally affected with urethritis. However, females are more prone to urethritis because of the anatomy they possess. Men’s urethra, which is the length of the penis, appears to be longer than that of women. Symptoms

The signs in men are quite different from that of women. These may include:

• burning sensation while urinating
• presence of blood in the semen or urine
• itching or burning near the point of the penis opening
• discharge from the penis

Some symptoms of urethritis in women include:

• more frequent need to urinate
• discomfort or pain during urination
• burning sensation at the urethral opening
• abnormal discharge from the vagina may be seen along with the urinary symptoms

People with urethritis may or may not have noticeable signs. In men, the signs are usually apparent if urethritis results from sexually transmitted infections, including chlamydia or gonorrhoea or occasionally trichomoniasis.

For this reason, it’s essential to learn if you may have been infected with a sexually transmitted infection (STI).

Types of Urethritis

Based on the cause of inflammation, the different types of urethritis include gonococcal urethritis and nongonococcal urethritis.

Gonococcal urethritis is triggered by the same bacteria that caused gonorrhoea, a sexually transmitted disease. It is accountable for 20% of cases of total urethritis.

Nongonococcal urethritis is caused by bacteria that are involved in other STIs. Chlamydia is a common cause of this form of urethritis.

Other causes may include:

• The most common viral causes are the herpes simplex virus and cytomegalovirus
• Reiter’s syndrome
• Adenovirus
• Ureaplasma urealyticum
• Trichomonas vaginalis
• Uropathogenic Escherichia coli (E. coli)

Less likely, urethritis can also result after an injury or sensitivity to chemicals used in soaps, creams or perfumes, foams, etc.

Risk Factors

People who are more likely to be suspected of urethritis are usually those who:

• Have a history of sexually transmitted diseases
• Engage in high-risk sexual activities such as oral sex

Ayurvedic treatment for Urethritis

• KaphajMootrakruchhra: It is an outcome of aggravated Kapha, which causes excessive swelling and discomfort in the pelvic region. The imbalance of Kapha often results in urine which is sticky and thick.
• SannipatikMootrakruchhra: The imbalance of all the three doshas yielding mixed characteristics of VatajMootrakruchhra, PittajMootrakruchhra, and KaphajMootrakruchhra.
